In Minecraft, gathering the appropriate elements is of the utmost importance. However, several essential resources such as gold, coal, diamonds, and cobblestone are located underground, which means that you will need to do some digging in order to reach them.

You also have the option of searching the overworld for caves until you find one, at which point you can use it to get a jump start on your mining activities. On the other hand, as soon as you start moving further underground, you'll quickly come into another challenge, and that challenge is the absence of light.
You see, caves in Minecraft are dark because there’s no light source there. Because of this, there are always hostile mobs spawning in that area, and without light, you won't be able to do much of anything.
The topic of discussion in this piece is how players of Minecraft can increase the amount of light in underground caverns.
Bringing more light into caverns
There are a few different methods available in the game for producing light, the most prevalent of which is the use of torches. They are simple to make and, once installed on a floor or wall, provide an endless source of light for the area. However, in order to create them, you will need coal and sticks, and using torches as your only source of illumination in a cave will take some time.
The gamma settings of Minecraft become relevant at this point. Both of these approaches are going to be discussed in depth in this essay.

Making use of torches
The use of torches, as one might expect, is the game's default method for lighting up virtually any location. To create a torch in the game, you will need the following components.
- 1 lump of coal or 1 piece of charcoal
- 1 x stick
The goods that were just discussed will give you a total of four torches. Due to the fact that they may be stacked, you can store up to 64 torches in one slot and still have a enough supply of them. You can craft torches at the crafting table or in your inventory, whichever you like. Simply make sure to repeat the pattern exactly as it is written down below.
In your personal inventory:
In the crafting table:
Once you have a torch, hold it and right-click on a surface to place the torch.
Using gamma (Java edition only)
If torches are too time-consuming for you, you can increase the in-game gamma to see dark environments more clearly. Here’s how.
Step 1: Press Windows key + R to open the Run prompt. Type .minecraft and hit enter.
Step 2: Find and open a .txt file called options.
Step 3: Find the gamma setting and increase it to 1000%.
Keep in mind that this method will only work for the Java Edition. If you’re playing the Bedrock edition, you’re going to have to either install a gamma pack or use torches.
